The Hobbit House Farmstead Natural Building & Sustainable Mountainside Agriculture by Rod Rylander

Well, this is my first attempt at a blog . I am not a professional writer, editor or publisher. I do have a strong technical background that allows me to put this blog together and understand the technology behind ‘Going Green’. I am just your everyday run of the mill 40-something parent who is willing to explore the opportunity to reduce my ‘Carbon Foot Print’ and make a few spelling and grammatical errors on they way.

I am a little selfish and I feel most people are. If it saves me money and it is convenient, I will probably look into and give it a try and maybe do the planet some good. I do not want to live in a hobbit style house. The kind dug in to the side of the hill made out of recycled tires and wine bottles. Iam not interested in planting a meadow on my roof, erecting a windmill in my backyard or dumpster diving for used cooking oil to fuel me car.

I am going to explore the meaning and the costs of going green. Everywhere you turn we are being bombarded with with terms like Eco-friendly, environmentally safe, sustainable resources and green everything. Many of these products and policies in my opinion are nothing more than the modern day equivalent to Snake Oil.

The bottom line is I am not going to spend $75 on and LED light Bulb. I am not running out to buy a $50,000 car the size of a Go-cart that needs to an electrical outlet every 300 mile.

What I am trying to do is bring as little Common Eco Sense to the environment friendly madness we are surrounded by.
